I used to collect both of these UK movie magazines back in the 70s.

I may be wrong, but my vague recollection is these were for sale both in newsagents and in cinema lobbies. In the pre-internet days, these were the best way of keeping track of upcoming releases and figuring out which movies I wanted to go see. Because the magazines were (I think) tied in with the distributors and cinema chains, they were hardly at the cutting edge of critical journalism, but as promotional materials they certainly did their job for me!

I have kept a number of these back issues in a chest at my mother’s house in the UK. At some point I may try sell or bin them, but here is a fairly random selection of covers from the era. From classics like Rocky to long-forgotten trash such as Confessions Of A Driving Instructor (part of a series of Confessions… sex comedies, none of which I have ever had any inclination to see), these provide a snapshot of just what a mixed bunch of movies were showing at my local cinema back in the mid 70s.
