I’ve already posted about the Humphrey Bogart film of the same name, but this Enforcer was the third in Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry series.

It’s an ok movie, but not a patch on either the original or the first sequel Magnum Force. This was the point at which the Harry movies started to become formulaic and go downhill. Once again Harry has a new partner who doesn’t survive until the end credits. This time she is a woman, played by Tyne Daly (later to recreate a very similar role on TV cop show Cagney And Lacey).  Once again, Harry locks horns with a new, officious boss.  And in the climax he uses a piece of heavy ordnance (a rocket launcher) to despatch the bad guy, setting the unfortunate template for the even lesser sequels.

The UK quad poster (featuring Harry pointing a gun out of a shattered car windscreen) is great, and one that I would love to own, although its unlikely I will ever find it at a reasonable price. This is the somewhat lesser Spanish version – a similar image was featured in many of the international posters. I’m still deciding whether to sell this one or not!
