“Duh duh duh duh duh….Batman!” As a kid, I used to love watching the Adam West 1960s TV series.
I was a superhero comic book fan, and this was the first – indeed only – onscreen superhero. No matter that the Zap! Wham! Kapow! titles were unbelievably cheesy and the villains incredibly silly – it was all super-cool to me.
At the time I bought (and still have, albeit very damaged) a toy Batmobile, which I recall used to fire mini rockets from the back and had a chain-snapping axe that popped out at the front just for good measure!
The TV series spawned a 1966 movie too, in which all the villains ganged up on Batman and Robin. I remember West’s Bruce Wayne being suitably heartbroken when his unrequited love Miss Kitka turned out to be the baddy Catwoman (duh!).
These are two re-release French posters – a very nice graphic treatment from the early 70s and a video release ‘pantalon’ (door panel) featuring the Dynamic Duo. The 70s one has just sold. The pantalon can be found for sale here.
