If you’ve ever dreamed of zipping around Rome on a Vespa (hello, Emily In Paris), you are probably consciously following in the tracks of Audrey Heburn and Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.

That’s probably the most famous scene in this classic 1953 love story, as a spoiled princess escapes to explore the city incognito with the aid of an American reporter. This was Hepburn’s first American film role, and she won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance.

The movie, directed by William Wyler, was shot entirely in Rome, after some negotiation with the Italian Ministry Of Tourism, who originally refused permission on the grounds that it would “degrade Italians”.

This is the Spanish herald, which I have given to my wife, who is a big fan of all things Audrey.
