These mementoes of a bygone era evoke a classic touch of old-style Hollywood glamour.
Paris Hollywood was a French glamour magazine that ran from 1947 to 1974. In its early incarnation, it featured Hollywood stars of the day on the covers, plus various pin-ups and the occasional tasteful nude shot inside. Within a few years however the nudity became its selling point, and by the 60s it had morphed into a ‘top shelf’ smut magazine, gradually becoming more and more explicit.
The examples I have, however, are all from its early, classier incarnation and feature A-list American movie stars (fully clothed, of course) – Veronica Lake, Ava Gardner, Jane Russell and the great Rita Hayworth.
I bought these last year on a whim, gave the Virginia Mayo dressing-room edition to my wife, and have been wondering what to do with the others. I really like the way these glamour shots have been sepia-tinted, and have been tempted to frame them for the walls, but I am running out of space! Hence I have decided somewhat reluctantly to sell the other copies I have.
So if you would like to own an original piece of 1940s Hollywood glamour, at a fraction of the cost for a poster from the era, click here to buy.
