The 1962 original version of The Manchurian Candidate is one of my all-time favourite movies. (The less said about the 2004 remake the better).

Star Frank Sinatra has never been better and Laurence Harvey is incredible as his poor doomed military colleague, brainwashed to be a political assassin. The movie has many great scenes, none more so then when Harvey’s mother (Angela Lansbury) chillingly asks him “why don’t you play a little solitaire?” or when his character coldly executes the woman he loves with barely a flicker of emotion.  Its all thrillingly shot in black and white by director John Frankenheimer.

This French poster with art by the prolific Boris Grinsson is an unusual size for French posters (40 x 80cm) and I have been meaning to get it framed for some time, but have not been able to figure out where and how to display it, as by itself it doesn’t really fit neatly into my home gallery. I intend someday to make it part of a collection of neo-noir movies but am currently out of wall space!
