For any British kid growing up in the 70s, Dr Who was a TV touchstone.
I first came across the Jon Pertwee iteration of the Doctor, then Tom Baker’s flamboyant, scarf-wearing version. Some of the episodes I remember as being relatively scary for young kids, not least those featuring the Doctor’s most famous adversaries – the Daleks. Their robotic catchphrase “Exterminate!” is one of the most memorable one-word lines in all TV, I think.
Before this, however, there had been two movies versions of the Doctor in the 60s, both starring Peter Cushing. He played the role as more of a kindly uncle, I recall. I saw these movies on daytime TV many years ago, but remember very little about them.
This is a Spanish herald for 1965’s Dr Who And The Daleks, plus one of a set of French lobby cards for its sequel Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 AD. Both of these have sold.
