Unusually, I own several pieces of memorabilia for this movie which I have never seen.
I bought these posters simply because I am a big Frank Sinatra fan. He holds a special meaning for me as he was my late father’s favourite singer. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my father to see his one and only concert – Sinatra at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Our seats were miles away from the stage, and The Voice had become The Croak in Frank’s later years, but it was still amazing to be in his presence. Years later, in my father’s final days in a care home, I played various Sinatra tracks to him and gripped his hand for one last time.
I also liked Sinatra as an actor, especially in The Manchurian Candidate, one of my all-time favourite movies. Some Came Running I must admit I had never heard of until I bought these posters – strangely as it has an amazing cast, including Dean Martin and Shirley MacLaine. I have tried to find the movie on YouTube and other online sources without success. I only know it is a drama about an Army veteran returning to his Midwest hometown. Hopefully one day I can get to see it.
These are the Belgian and US posters, plus a still of Frank and Shirley from the premiere which the vendor gave me with these purchases. The Belgian poster is terrific I think. I am considering to frame it, but I would like to see the movie first! The US one-sheet is available to buy here.
